    I say "typically" since we trapped several Northern Saw-whet Owls this season that had 13 (as opposed to 12)... and one even had 14!! I must have counted them 5 times before finally writing it in the comments...

    It's always possible that this was filmed in a different part of the world than I'm familiar with; I usually like to present this as a caveat when I comment on raptor ID. However, for brevity's sake I don't always include that particular disclaimer.
