I know it's a difficult concept. In the culture of Christianity, a relationship with Jesus and religion are not only completely different, they are contradictory. It's a way of thinking that's as natural to us as it is foreign to you. I'm just trying to foster some understanding. All you need to know is that I'm not lying. Hopefully you'll understand later.

I was being serious. I was raised Christian and what he was communicating is a pretty basic concept to me. I admire him for at least attempting to make the distinction clearer to people who don't really get the whole Jesus =/= religion thing. Another person I'd cite is Ricky Gervais who approaches this from the atheist angle.

What they're both saying is that self-righteous assholes who tout their faith as a sign of superiority are missing the point of Christianity completely.
