@FearghasG i know how to play this song. there isn't any reason to play it any other than standard tuning. you think he's hitting the low G on a downtuned A string, but really he is fretting third fret on E string with his thumb. Watch more closely

he's playing 8s cuz its a good head up spot in position against laak, but with PA behind on the flop its too tough a spot to call the flop
