i just came across ur topic in hi5 about the meaning of a chinese name and i just posted about the little knowledge i have about it (mostly from my mums) as a response (sorry for the delay!).

Eu sou da terceira geração de Hakkas no BR , meu avô paterno chegou ao Rio de Janeiro no início do século passado , com 16 anos . Da quarta geração só o meu filho fala ainda Hakka em casa já que sou a única casada com um holandês , também descendente de Hakkas . Há muitos desta etnia no Brasil (bem como em Amsterdam & Paramaribo) , principalmente em São Paulo , mas a maioria só se comunica em cantonês pois são de HK , como minha mãe .
