Tyrone Curtis Bogues (born January 9, 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland), better known as Muggsy Bogues, is a retired American professional basketball point guard and former head coach of the now-defunct Charlotte Sting of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). He played for five teams during his 14-season career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and was the shortest person to play in the NBA, standing at 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 m) tall. Bogues is best known for his involvement with the Charlotte Hornets. He also played for various teams including the Washington Bullets, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, and the Toronto Raptors.
Bogues was drafted twelfth overall in the 1987 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets, and was part of a talent-laden draft class that also included David Robinson, Reggie Miller, Scottie Pippen and Kevin Johnson. In his rookie year, Bogues was a teammate of Manute Bol who stands at 7 feet 7 inches (231 cm) tall, at the time he was the tallest player to have ever played in the NBA. Bol and Bogues appeared on three magazine covers together.
Bogues spent ten years in Charlotte as the Hornets, led by Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson, became one of the most popular teams in the NBA and a perennial playoff contender. Charlotte Hornets replica jerseys, including Bogues', were worn by children all over United States. Bogues was one of the most popular players in Hornets history, despite the fact that he never averaged more than 11.2 points per game in a season.
He is the Hornets' career leader in minutes played (19,768), assists (5,557), steals (1,067) and turnovers (1,118) and in assists per game (8.7927) and assists per 48 minutes (13.4933). Bogues also held the Hornets' single-game record of 19 assists, broken by Chris Paul (another player from Wake Forest University) on Nov. 7, 2007.

If I remember correctly, I believe MJ had one of his all-night-golf outings before this game which was one reason why his shot might have eluded him this night. This game was interesting in that MJ was meeting Shaq in LA for the first time. On a side note, the appetizer was a very young and skinny Kobe Bryant who was given 10 minutes in his first ever game against his idol. And as MJ greeted a rookie Shaq in Orlando in their first meeting with a block, MJ welcomed the future star to a modest dunk in their very first matchup (the 2nd meeting is also uploaded on my channel).
But the story of the game was the game. The Bulls were taken aback by an amazing night from Van Exel and Shaq and fell behind by 22 at the half. MJ's shot was only visible at the end of the half which was probably why the Bulls didn't drop by 30.
In the 2nd half, MJ became what he would call "The Utility Man". He plugged all the holes and did the dirty work - hustling on defense, setting screens, passing to the hot man etc. Down 18 points in the 4th, Kukoc and Pip stepped up and stood besides MJ's leadership and brought the game to OT. And while MJ's shot was still MIA, he drilled the nail-in-coffin free throws to seal the game. This was one of the most amazing comebacks ever and one reason why the Bulls were the Bulls.
