About Joni's Videos

These are videos I made for Back to the Bible - Philippines, International Bible Society, Christ Enthroned Church, Faith Bible Church and Proclaim His Name Christian Fellowship from 2003 up to today. I mainly used Sony Vegas 7 for my work since it's the most easiest to handle, requires less CPU horsepower and the changes I make (plus the video preview) are in real time.

MY EXCUSE FOR BEING ME

In a previous life (the 1990s), I was a banker for a large Philippine bank that is now extinct. I'd like to call that bank "big blue." I went to a lot of trainings and seminars which means that my life was filled with PowerPoint presentations, acetates, projectors and lethal amounts of partying until dawn, dude!

But despite best efforts, some rumors about me still stick like burned taffy even though I try to scrape it off like road kill. Everything you've ever heard about me is absolutely true, especially the parts about me falling inside a manhole or being dumped by girls I thought about dating. It's a good thing though because normally dudes would get dumped after spending money for the date. I get dumped before I ask a girl out. This way, I save money.

Filipinos all over the world have a word for guys like me -- torpe. No, it's not a cigar-shaped, self-propelled submerged projectile launched from a vessel that is capable of operating underwater. It's more lethal and sinister -- at least from an impatient girlfriend's point of view.

I grew up in the small sleepy town of Meycauayan, Bulacan, and graduated valedictorian of St. Francis Academy in 1983. The reason I am telling you about the valedictorian part is because being able to say, "I was the valedictorian," is the only privilege I ever got in my elementary years from achieving that academic goal. No one in the Makati -- Ortigas -- Araneta Business District ever hired me because I was a valedictorian. The lesson to be learned from this is -- watch the A Team because you learn a lot from BA Baracus (aka Mr. T) on the complexities of life. Ergo, I pity da fool who has the valedictorian tag! I pity da fool! So, stop the jibby jabba and learn.

I learned English from my parents and from great teachers named Ernie and Bert, Kermit, Big Bird and Oscar who reside in this obscure New York street called Sesame.

I like oysters, yogurt, pizza and Star Trek series and spin-offs.

I spend my weekends watching videos and listening to free MP3s that I legitimately ripped from legally pirated CDs. I had my share of glitz and glamour. I dated several actresses (in my dreams) and met a handful of celebrities (while reading a borrowed back issue of Metro or Pulp magazine). Fortunately, I guarded my privacy so well you won't find my name associated with any of the famous people today, or any infamous people for that matter.
