2005: A Brief History of the Atomic Age (CAPTIONED)
The 2005 Carnegie International Non-Proliferation Conference focused on the theme of "Sixty Years Later," an assessment and analysis of the history of the nuclear age.
The Carnegie endowment published a DVD featuring three segments from the conference:
1) In "A Brief History of the Atomic Age" Joseph Cirincione kicks off the Conference with a live multimedia presentation covering sixty years of both the development of atomic weapons, and international efforts to control or eliminate them.
2) In "A Conversation with Mohamed ElBaradei", the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and 2005 Nobel Peace Prize winner chats with Joseph Cirincione and other Conference participants. ElBaradei talks about the work of the IAEA and new approaches to the world's nuclear hot spots.
3) In "A Conversation with Historians of the Nuclear Age", The Wall Street Journal's Carla Anne Robbins moderates a panel discussion with three of today's most prominent and respected nuclear historians. Robert Norris (Racing for the Bomb), Richard Rhodes (The Making of the Atomic Bomb) and Jonathan Schell (The Fate of the Earth) describe their chosen "defining moments" of the nuclear age and answer questions from Ms. Robbins.
