Jodi Jett (yes, that's her real name and no, she's not related to Joan) grew up in, of all places, Kansas. In the late nineties she headed to the Big Apple to pursue life and music.

Having become a religious fanatic as a teenager and young adult, Jett didn't have the opportunity to be exposed to much rock and roll, especially of the indie type. The only musical performance Jodi participated in during her young life involved leading her church in song. Comparisons to musicians like Liz Phair, Lou Reed and Patti Smith meant little to Jodi when she debuted on the local music circuit as she had never even heard of them.

Yet, Jodi makes the kind of rock that kicks about with desperation in its blood. It's the sort of thing a blues man double her age and experience might reach. That's the reason Five-time Grammy-winning Engineer/Producer Elliot Scheiner (Beck, Steely Dan, Johnny Cash) was blown away when he heard her music, "Unique and intelligent. I haven't heard anything like it in a long time," he exclaimed.

She proved it song after song on her debut album, Revelations.
Album co-producer Phil Palazzolo (New Pornographers, Neko Case) describes Jett's music as having "come from that elusive crossroads where naivete and sophistication stop to have a quick drink together. Those contrasts and conflicts make Revelations a layered record that reveals itself slowly with a big payoff."

Joining Jett on Revelations were guitarists Peter Mavrogeorgis (Bellmer Dolls, Vanity Set), John Nugent (Chop) and Matt Rocker (Sweetblood), bassists Byron Isaacs (Joan Baez) and Tom Ward (The Dansettes) along with drummers David Berger (Erin McKeown) and Angela Webster (The Holy Ghost), and cellist Jane Scarpantoni (Norah Jones).

Revelations was officially released in the Spring of 2006 to critical acclaim. Songs from the record have been spun on over 100 college, Triple A and internet radio stations in the United States and United Kingdom.

Jett took a hiatus from music but in the spring of 2010, she began writing songs again and is excited to be back to doing what she loves. She now lives in Astoria, Queens, with two dogs and one pretty cool roomie.
