About this user

The premise of Joke Lab is that every week 6-8 comedians are given a topic to create brand new material on or inspired by the topic for the week. The material can take any format as long as it is related to the topic in a way that will be apparent to the audience- can be sketch, a character or concept piece, storytelling, or stand-up. At the end of the show we take an audience suggestion for the next week's topic and send it out to the comics booked on that show. So every week it's a brand new show with new comics and new, never seen before material.

Often, since the material is brand new, the comics may not have it fully memorized and they may use notes. The purpose of Joke Lab is to come up with something new and try something different. This is comedy in the making. The bits you see some of these same comics doing on television were often honed over months and sometimes years by performing it over and over again in front of audiences. The bits you see here have never been performed before. Some of them may be worked on further and may eventually make it into your living room or onto your DVD player, some of them may only be performed this one time, and then never again.
