This video scratches the surface of converting basic patterns into intermediate or advanced patterns depending on what the player wants to do. In this video we will only use two right hand techniques, the thumb slap, and the hammer on. The more techniques you know with the right and left hand plus the comfort of many basic pick patterns = monstrous possibilities.

My next tutorial will be on thumb slaps (along with their variations) and general percussion, I'm excited as this is my favorite subject. :)

***KEEP IN MIND, the coin flinging analogy is an analogy, so the only "flaw" in the analogy is that on a guitar string you wouldn't "press down" as you would on a flat surface. BUT there is definitely a gentle loading and build up of pressure in the "pulling towards" or "fling" of the pluck.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching your playing. As a novice player i can tell you without a doubt you inspire. I've been having trouble with my picking for a long time (I'm a natural lefty) and I was wondering if you could offer me some input? I've been contemplating restringing my guitars for lefty play. I'll gain the cordination with my picking undoubtedly but I'm afraid I'll just be transferring on set of problems for another. I'd have to relearn my chords with an uncordinated hand. Any thoughts would be most appreciated... Thanks, Mike
