Alvarez has always maintained that beautiful tenor ring and lyric quality with its own timbre. I continue to admire his incredible breathing and his ability to keep the sound in what so many classical singers call "the mask.: and without sound nasal...quite a feat...I have always love his voice, ...

You can hear the noticeable wobble in the voice, the lower pitch, the crooning....Mark needs to return to art songs---Schubert, Schumann, Fauré, even Von Williams....Like so many young classical singers, they go to the opera arias before they are ready....Operatic tenors have to develop and find ...

I am not sure the reason for Rolf's very wide wobble in this recording...Could be he was tired or that he had been oversinging or even his age..It is very noticeable.

Schubert- Frühlingsglaube (Jussi Björling tenor)
Amazingly well recorded in a recital in Glenn Memorial Auditorium, Atlanta, April 13, 1959. The accompanist was Frederick Schauwecker.

Bjorling never loses that beautiful lyric innocense that Schubert lieder requires. And yet, there is such a fullness to the sound, haunting in its resonance. He consistently rises above a technical mastery of this genre without ever descending into sentimentality or excess. Bjorling will always b...

I've heard many, many recordings of this Hahn piece. This is one of the most beautiful and focused I have heard. A lovely and tender rendition without ever losing the energy, which can often get lost in romanticizing it out of any texture....great job

Pears, in my judgment, never sacrifices musicality for drama. The sound is clear, open, and beautifully controlled without detachment. He is so inside this piece and uses such empathic restraint in his interpretation. I continue to love the seamless line of his voice. A real master.

I love the line in André's voice. I also love the light timbre that gives the voice such ease and flexibility without being anemic. And he has such a wonderful open sound. I would love to hear his Schubert.
I hope he continues to put more of his voice on utube.

A beautifully fresh rendition of this famous aria. I particularly like the top baritone range of André's voice; there is such a clarity and purity to it.

Many people have complained aboutt Kaufmann's dark timbre causing some problems in the upper softer range. However, if you listen, closely, to his French repertoire, I think you will find his voice opening up with a beautiful clarity and melodic line.

Marie Nicole-Lemieux's voice is dark, liquid, and very full. The enticing "Ah, réponds, réponds à ma tendresse" makes me want to believe in Delilah's ambivalence. I will forgive her anything after that one phrase alone as Nicole-Lemieux sings it....
