An impressive sound. Haven't heard of this artist and cant find wiki info. Almost a helden tenor I would say. Very nice machine you have there too - I think there's one on gumtree at the moment for GBP60 !

My aunt appeared with Tauber in this show (her stage name was Louise Javotte). She always used to laugh when she recalled having to dig her elbow in his ribs, whilst waiting in the wing for her entry, as he jokingly grasped her from behind just as she was about to go on.

When providing an anlysis of one singer's or another's peformance of this aria, it is worth remebering that the singer is swearing revenge - death in fact - for the attack upon his beloved.

This is the most awful documentary I have ever seen. "Lancaster bombers" the planes shown are not Lancasters. "tallyboy bomb" - it's a tallboy.

The crackling of the fire indicates it is wood-burning. The De Havilland Comet in an earlier scene indicates this must be 1953 or later ie after the introduciton of the Clean Air Act which banned smoking fires !

@LyricalXilence Maybe reflect on that comment for a while as it is somewhat rascist. Remeber this film is based on an event but the dialogue is fiction, created with the aim of encouraging an emotional response such as yours.
