This could be 4 hrs each evening - I had to succeed with it.
Then thought what's the use of learning all this - no one appears to be interested in the stuff ( apart from me and a few brothers ) and just stopped learning Kicking Mule stuff . Switched over to classical and again became fascinated with the Spanish Masters and bought most vinyls and again spent years trying to work the pieces out - some with music - most by ear.
Through the years holding onto a few Jansch tunes, a few Vin Garbutt pieces and others. Listening to Antonio Forcione, Frank Gambale, Alan Holdsworth.
Suddenly reached 40 yrs old and decided to return to study the piano - over 6 years studied the works of Thelonious Monk, some Chopin, Fats Waller and many others. The breadth and depth of the piano was so much better than guitar. I suppose it was the Monk albums that encouraged me to restart piano seriously. Then suddenly I visit my eldest brother and he shows me a thing called Youtube - I looked at the guitarists and thought - I could play as well as those - so that was it - back to the guitar and Youtube allows me to play something and then forget the piece and move on which is perfect for me.
I have not had any lessons on guitar ( OK - 3 lessons to learn Alan Holdsworth solo's but the teacher couldn't play Holdsworth so we just used to have a beer and chat and I'd pay him ).
