Olivier I'm told singlehandedly transformed the presentation and declamation style of Shakespeare from a florid, musical style to a more direct, minimalist, dramatic form. Though he's very dramatic and over-the-top here, that is what works in Shakespeare.

Bono is unbearably pretentious. But a great talent and The Edge is a great guitarist, and this is a great song. The opening guitar sends chills down my spine. But I can barely watch Bono ham it up.

One of the greatest voices I've ever heard. And the first country singer to headline in Vegas I heard. Her passing, like so many other performers, in a plane crash is more than terrible. What a loss. Thankfully she left us so many beautiful gifts of her wonderful music. Thank you Patsy!!!

Interesting, the film focuses on the men in the crowd. Kind of unusual, usually these films focus only on screaming girls. Cool, not overdone, the scale of rock n' roll that it all began with, small clubs, kids close to the rockers.

See him declaiming this in his filmed version of Henry V. It's one of the great speeches ever captured on film.

People criticize Kerouac for not being sensitive to African- or Native Americans which of course he wasn't, but he tried to be and at the time he wrote The Subterraneans it was a very radical thing for a white-Catholic-Canuck-Iroquois-American to try to love and dream with an African-Cherokee-Ame...

Only he seemed to be able to "own" any song he decided to sing!!! When he sang it, it became his song.

What an incredible reader! His soul speaks through his own words. Wonderful. He was such an unhappy man, read Nicosia's biography it's so sad. But what wonderful gifts he gave us. Literally sacrificed his life for these beautiful thoughts.

They should have put the dancers behind her, not in the spotlights in front. Distracting. Great song, great voice!

@sjplwc - Hey, someone here found a fuzzy version of that song, the one I also used to watch on CKLW! I can attach it to an email to anyone who wants it since I can't remember the web site I found it on. Just send me your email and I'll send it to you. It's fuzzy but still sounds great.

Details are very hard to see that the narrators discuss. Zooming in would be very, very helpful.

Very touching. Even though I haven't seen Uncle Jim since 1973 or so, I remember him very well, very vividly. I remember how dignified and yet very funny he was!!!
