Sounds nothing like "Everybody Hurts" to me...different melody and arrangement completely. Tempo of the song is similar, but that's about it.

Neil Young, Dylan, Springsteen, Simon, McCartney, Cohen, Mitchell...for me they are all up there

Read his lyrics..particularly from his new album Wrecking Ball, and many others where he refers to God's redemption and forgiveness. He is a lapsed catholic perhaps. but he believes in God, no question about it.

Sorry if my comments gave the impression he was dead or finished recording...I just meant that for me he wrote and recorded some fabulous songs in the past. I know he still is a great singwriter, I was just making the point that his back catalogue is superb.

Great to hear Stan on this interview....I know he had a stroke a year or so before this, hence his slightly slurred speech, but still fascinating. He clearly had some bitterness with Hal Roach and that is understandable as they were ripped off by him completely.

Saw Bruce during this tour in 1988 at Bramall lane, Sheffield, England...fantastic show as ever.

Even now in 2012 he is still the greatest showman in music.

Great version...Clarence's vocals at the start and the sax solo are a great tribute to a great man and musician. Incredible song.

For any other songwriter and artist this would be their biggest and most popular song...for Bruce Springsteen it's just a asong he can throw away or keep in the backburner for 30 years and then release on a compilation album. The man is just the greatest of all time.

Remember this song from when I was 9 years old watching them on Top of the pops...that falsetto voice, the silly white bonnets..Amazing how much the teddy boy rock n' roll era of the 50's influenced some of those 70's bands like the Rubettes, Showaddywaddy, Mud etc.
