@inachu According to "The Steve Howe Guitar Collection" book (GPI Books, 1993), he used a 1953 Martin 00-18 acoustic guitar for the beginning of Roundabout in the studio recording.

@cheeseppuff On the original record, it was multi-track recording, which enabled Alvin Lee to play both the acoustic and also accompany himself on electric. That's why he didn't play it live - it would never be able to sound the same.

@LupoRosso900 People who studied with him said the tuning of the sympathetic strings depended on the piece. Sometimes F, E, D, C - and sometimes D, C, B, A.. With the wide neck of his guitar, those strings could actually be fretted if necessary, although I think they were there mostly to vibrate.
