You enter Speed mêlée by comboing into enemies that can Speed mêlée as well. Once inside, each button will do what it normally does but with locked movement and new, relative effects.
Holding LMB will cause you to attack. Each hit will either deal damage to your opponent's Energy or Multiplier whether your Aura is off or on respectively. This damage will be equal to your Attack Power if your Aura is On, or Special Attack Power if your Aura is off.
The speed at which you attack will be relative to a fraction of your Speed stat, meaning that if both Players are attacking, it will be balanced if either's stats are focused on Attack or Speed. Person A may get his/her hits in faster, but Person B's hits will deal more damage individually.
Holding CTRL will dodge incoming attacks. If you have your Aura off, each hit dodged will reward you with Energy. If the Aura is on, each hit will reward Multiplier instead. The basis of gameplay will reflect these Aura On/Off scenarios.
You can not, however, dodge if your Speed stat is less than your opponent's. This is to prevent never ending loops between switching up attacking with dodging.
The Attacker's answer to dodging will be blocking. You can block with ALT, and it works the same as dodging, except instead of it being only usable with greater Speed, it focuses on having greater Attack. So people focusing their stats on Attack will likely block, and Speed users will likely dodge.
If you hit RMB when you have sufficient Multiplier, you will perform a heavy attack as normal. If this heavy attack hits, it will do it's routine smash back/up/down respective to the direction you are pressing, and end Speed mêlée.
If somebody either heavy attacks at the same time as your or blocks your heavy attacks, you will enter a Shock Exchange. If both Speed Meleeers are dodging or blocking, they will enter a Grab Struggle.
If you are not holding LMB, RMB, ALT, or CTRL, you will get hit and receive damage to your health with each Speed mêlée hit your opponent deals to you.
I'm considering adding some sort of stun to give Player's a chance to just deal direct damage to somebody's health, because the only form of doing so is if you're quicker. This makes sense, but it's very satisfying and I can see how having somebody constantly dodging your attacks could get discomforting. But I'll figure that out later.
That more or less covers the systems involved with Speed mêlée. It should accommodate each Player regardless of which stats they invest Z-Points into.
I could speak more of it, but it's better just to try it yourself:
