for myself the most fascinating thing about freestyle is the psychology behind what it take to succeed. it's a sport of complete insanity, there's no coaches, no rulebooks, no limit beyond your imagination. a fan see's a personality and watches that personality perform, a fan see's a rider practice and understands pain. but a fan will never have to fly through the air pondering which bones take the least amount of time to heal . a fan won't have to choose between a broken back or two broken wrists. I've seen kids with ADHD sit silently for hours just staring at a ramp. fear a balancing act between normality and idiocy ., it paralyzes the majority but gives clarity to some. sitting on a role in x games i wasn't nervous, i had a game plan ill be it not a good one i accepted the probability that i was going to crash this was my way of overcoming fear. as the wheels touch down the score didn't matter, the money not worth the risk, that moment was the definition of why people like us do the things we do.
