1 min 02 seconds into this commercial break is an absolute classic! Been looking for this ad for a few weeks for my retro tv group on Facebook. "Strewth! There's a bloke down there with no strides on!" - Legendary! :D

Yep, remember that one. Has anyone on YouTube got the old (mid 1980s I think) UK Yellow Pages ad with a couple decorating a room for a nursery and the pregnant woman wants a tuna & banana pizza?!

LOL at the Bonfire Night version!!! And the after-Christmas one with all the ways of using up turkey!!!

I remember most of those ads apart from the ones which were just for the TVS region (my region was Granada)! I was 11 when these were on telly back in 1984! We look back on so many old ads with great fondness. Sadly, I doubt we'll do that with any of today's commercials!

I remember Kellogg's Start!!! It was Steve Cram having a bowlfull after his run, wasn't it?!

BBC1 stopped closing down for the night in the autumn of 1997 - they started handing over to BBC News 24 for the wee small hours! Nice to see a Public Information Film - didn't realise they'd been showing those again in the 90s, but I do remember BBC1 showing PIFs before closedowns in the late 80s!

@jonasx345 Didier Drogba simply didn't understand the basic rule - that is "You Do NOT Slap Nemanja Vidic AT ANY TIME." You especially don't slap him in full view of a linesman in the European Cup Final! Drogba clearly had a deathwish.

The 2nd tune on this collection seems very familiar to me from my square-eyed childhood! Definitely remember this tune!

Didn't Channel 4's test card play this in later years during its classical music phase?! It also played some similar classical guitar music (Rodrigo's Concertino for Guitar & Orchestra in A Minor) which I heard years later on Classic FM and was able to obtain.

@radprog He always did voice-overs even when also doing continuity announcing. If you remember the Granada-produced quiz show "Connections" in the mid to late 80s (hosted by Sue Robbie), Charles Foster did the voice overs for that show. :)

Excellent stuff from my region - nice one, Granada! While Happy New Year would've been a good choice of song, The Way Old Friends Do is still a damn good and apt Abba song to let in the new year! Will be having this as my new year's closedown on my Facebook retro tv group! :D

LOL! Unlike that c williams eejit, I bet even Adolf would've got his mock clocks sorted and would also have been able to tell the difference between a Channel 4 test card and the BBC one!!!

Why is the minute hand moving round and the second hand staying in place?! Epic Clock Fails there! How do I go about marking up all of that clown's terrible mocks as spam? Then, perhaps my YouTube searches for actual old tv clips (and maybe the odd WELL-MADE mock-up) would be more fruitful!

I remember this quiz! Then again, when I was in the 4th year at high school (what is now known as year 10), our English class went to see this show being recorded! :D We would've gone to Granada TV studios some time in late 1987.
