I have a question Im interested in getting the nikkor 70-200 2.8g vrii lens for my d7000 but with the crop factor how close to my subject do I have to be? please let me know I shoot newborns kids and family portraits don't really shoot landscape or wide angle.

@les777pl get the D7000 trust me I was on the boat when I started last year and purchased the d3100 great camera but after a 2 weeks I noticed the D7000 was a better camera so I returned it and now after 1 year with the d7000 I'm dying to get the D700 LOL i have the same set up d7000 with battery...

this 85mm 1.8g is going to be a great buy, I honestly don't see a $1,200 difference to choose the 85mm 1.4g over this. Even if I had the $ to get the 1.4g I would still choose the 1.8g.

@randomgmrtag the results you get with the 35mm are so much better compare to the 2 lenses you have if you want a good zoom lens buy a Nikon 70-300mm vr II or the Nikon 70-200mm

I had the same problem with the 50mm 1.8g and got this 35mm 1.8g and problem solve this little lens is amazing and gives much more wide angle than the 50mm 1.8g not saying the 50 is bad is just toooooo close specially for family portrait

@flipknoc: depends what type of shots you're doing, I had both and kept the 35mm works better for me gives more wide view than the 50mm 1.8g but it is not a bad lens both are very sharp, if you want i can email you sample pictures

Nikon D7000 is way better than the D300s, why spend more for something older less pixels, less ISO and waaaaay less features, one thing i must say is do not buy the kit package with the 18-105mm(i personally don't like this lens) I got a D7000+35mm+Battery grip+SB700= AMAZING PICTURES!!! don't ne...
