Sam McVea vs Battling Jim Johnson 1910 (Speed Corrected)
The Fight
Fight films were big business at the turn of the 20th century. During this period, the Europeans were often more faithful in filming and...
One thing I've never understoof though is McVea is listed as 5'10 and Johnson at 6'3 . . .but the fighters here are about the same height and if anything Sam appears taller. The fighter who is supposed to be Johnson also is not fighting out of the low crouch he is described as having in newspaper...

The Stranglers, JJs vocal of, You'll always reap what you sow.
Hugh Cornwells version of this song is the one we all know from the album Dreamtime,, However JJ did a version on a dreamtime demo disc,, Quality n...
I've always heard this was a superior version but I have to say I prefer the Huge version, the song fits his voice more. The best song on Dreamtime and maybe even my favorite of the 'lighter' Stranglers songs.

Archie Moore vs Jimmy Slade Part 3
Rounds 8, 9 & 10
Slade was a fringe contender in the early 50s, losing most of the big ones but wins over the likes of Don Cockell, Clarency Henry and Tommy Hurricane Jackson earning him the nickname 'The Spoiler'. Says a lot about the time period that he displays more boxing skills here than the majority of toda...

The Explorers
2 worlds apart (T. Wogan)
I like the two other Explorers songs on here, this one isn't as good. The problem with the Explorers is they got a singer who was essentially a C grade version of Ferry. Who sang in the EXACT same style . . what were they thinking? I think if you put Ferry in there singing the songs you'd have ha...

Plus, not to mention, you had to be more careful in your output b/c one big shot with those gloves on could, if you wern't knocked out, severely damage your eyes/ears/nose and impair you the rest of the fight. It's a completly different story today with heavyweights wearing 10 ounce gloves and th...

Jeannette had to use a "quick hit and grab" strategy vs Langford since Sam was such a hard hitter a la Holyfield-Tyson, but Langford was much better than a 1996 Tyson.I always hear some obviously younger posters here lamenting the lack of combintations thrown; first off, this fight was scheduled ...
