If I may suggest ... you might want to redo this slideshow to improve watchability. It appears that ~55% of the time is transitions so we barely get to see anything before it starts flying apart. But maybe I'm just being crabby because I am supremely jealous of all the great rides you did. O_o :)

Aside from the fact that the title sponsor is a big turnoff, I would never consider doing this race because I remember carrying my boat 300m from boathouse (over a dike) to launch when I lived in Japan. No fun. The idea of doing more than 10x as much is a non-starter.

About Cycling volunteer in Touhoku
No such thing as litter in Japan? You haven't been to the (non-tsunami hit) beaches. They're usually filthy.
But that's a minor quibble. I'm glad you are reminding the world that the disaster is far from over. I'm hoping to go back again to volunteer this summer myself.
