I think she is playing her Finnigan violin in this performance. Not her Strad.....big difference in the carrying power, albeit nice sound.

I'm an amateur conductor...been at it for many years now...and if I ever have a question on how something should be done, I refer to Karajan for advice. Thank goodness for these wonderful postings on youtube.

Take it from me...I know Dr. Burisch speaks the truth. He provides a sort of cogent thesis that allows us to connect the many dots scattered around by other so-called experts. That said, he knows what he knows....but there is more to the story.

All the mentioned artists have their gifts for sure. The Sibelius is a concerto that has a transparency allowing for different interpretations that are quite different and yet valid. Heifetz or HH use an icey serentity....the Northern lights....while SC or ASM will put the heart and soul of Finla...

This is the most serious I have ever seen her. What happened to the smiles..the playful reparte' with the conductor??? But magnificent as always. I think she was somehow unhappy with herself in the final movement. Seems she was under some kind stress this day.

OK...I can't hold back anymore...I have played and conducted the 4 seasons...and this is the BEST interpretation I have ever heard. SC puts a unique humanity..life..into everything she plays. She comes from a place of love thats palpable.

I think that going back to the basics is wht everyone should do. If you want to visit the temple...fine. But its not magical. Your individual practice is the ONLY thing...and I have discovered that for myself. You and the Gohonzon..its an individual battle to achieve the Buddha nature. Sharing Na...

I think all the non-Japanese who share a love for Ich-san should start a club...and meet once a year in Japan.to commemorate him.

I learned Japanese by going to the movies almost every weekend when I was stationed there. I came to love Zatoichi...and I'm amazed so many other non-Japanese share my passion for Ich-san. We should start a club in his honor!!

Beautiful rendition...and as always, Sophie Mutter puts her unique interpretation into it. I love the way she takes her time to emote in the first movement.....too often this performed in a brusque manner, which is inappropriate.

He keeps mentioning the Van Allen belt...but what about the supposed anti-grav technology we are supposed to have? Contradiction here.

How humbling it is to hear the wrenching grief of these ladies. I wish that I could have but a small piece of the faith and strength they have. Truly humbling.
