Red Barchetta
The first video I laid studio audio over, so it's a little rough. I dropped the lie track to the back of the recording for now.

@EasterGhost I've seen both Peart and Bruford perform . . . actually I got to play "Heart of the Sunrise" for Bruford, on his drum set, in Pennsylvania. Bruford is better than Peart, though his set parts aren't as prominent. He touches a lot of poly-rhythmic crap that Peart wouldn't dare go near.

@behdoc He did, but my generation (being 19 or so) doesn't realize that. Springsteen doesn't get nearly enough credit for that song (Trust me on that one. I grew up in the Red Bank/Asbury Park area; my family is friends with him lol).

Derek has much better syncopation and stick work. Take it from a percussionist. Blast beats aren't special when done by just anyone. Derek breaks them up beautifully. Ask me? Derek wins.

@felsner1 Oh, that part I do not deny. Music videos at that time were pretty straightforward performance videos. I grew up with Dave Matthews performing in the rain for "Space Between" lol.

They've always had their heavier moments (like in "Hyrdra"), but here they basically cross into the territory of Dream Theater, and then do it better . . . and this is coming from a DT fan. Simon Phillips owns Portnoy in the progressive field here.

It's amazing how quickly Phil's voice adjusted to the lead role after Gabriel's departure. I think if I were Phil, I would have been very afraid to be out from behind the drum set like that (God knows I was when performing with my band).
