The Department of Occult Warfare was founded in WWII to investigate reports that the Nazis were pursuing the development of supernatural weaponry. Unwilling to allow the enemy unchecked access to any means of attack, we turned to any of our countrymen versed in the supernatural including the Army Chaplain Corps, for metaphysical guidance.

At first, the D.O.W. was concerned only with analysis, poring over reports and intelligence gathered by the Office of Strategic Services. But soon it became clear that Hitler, guided by the mystical Thule Society, was not only obsessed with procuring a supernatural advantage but was actually succeeding.

Thereafter the D.O.W. began taking a more active role in the war, on missions ranging from the acquisition of powerful supernatural relics to psychic assassination.

After well-publicised operations that ended in disaster in the 1960s (remember the space-time rips in a packed shopping centre in Dallas? Who couldn't. That was a D.O.W. operation) we scaled back our operations.

However, today we are more active than ever as we face numerous exhaustive investigations into sects with apocalyptic tendencies.
