@Martendemus Perhaps - although we can kill two birds with one stone here. 1) Not everyone will be able to visit this in a browser and use a code editor - but it might be useful for them to learn anyway (so we can give them a video as a fallback alternative). 2) Since we need the audio track anyw...

@JJC1138 We'll definitely be going piece-by-piece. It doesn't make sense if you have to learn 10 technologies before you can code your first project. I'm not sure what the first projects will be yet (still figuring that out) but I'm sure they won't be that difficult, nor will they involve every s...

@jfost784 Of course - Canvas doesn't necessarily encapsulate Computer Science concepts. HOWEVER it does encapsulate mathematical concepts (algebra and trig) and that's something that we have a TON of prior content on at Khan Academy. I believe that we can get people drawing long before we can do ...

@frewsxcv23 We'll most likely be replacing most of that content, it served as a good proof-of-concept but we definitely want to go far beyond it and take a much more project-based approach, teaching students how to build tangible projects (and especially ones that they can begin to use immediately).

@khanacademyfan Thanks for the heads-up, you can submit bug reports to the Github khan-exercises repository and the exercises team will work on it. (Google for "Github khan-exercises")

@khanacademyfan Thanks for the suggestion! I tried doing HD video here so the canvas size was much larger (and, as a result, the pen line was much smaller). I'll be sure to increase the size to compensate.

@khanacademyfan I use a Samson C01U. I didn't have it configured quite right for this video (it was only on a single channel and the audio levels were a bit stressed out). I'll have it fixed for the next video, along with hopefully some HD content as well.

@espadrine Actually, I did that intentionally so. I'm going to add in an extra mode so that I can always "recall" the last drawing. Being able to clear the drawing and just get back to coding seems to be the most optimal solution, at least for the time being.

@CountingStones I'm not using Comic Sans now? If you're referring to the code editor font it's Droid Sans.

@figital Absolutely - I definitely want to provide tons of debugging information to the user (value of variables, as an example). That would be especially useful to a beginning programmer, I think.

@kaninepete Makes sense - but yeah, as I mentioned, that information is only in Firefox right now, unfortunately. I can certainly make use of it but it'll have to be limited.

@3y3n5tyn Hmm, that sounds complicated. I just track all the mouse movements and keyboard presses and play them back - much less expensive. An entire movie can be reduced to only about 32KB or so in that way.

@11DRealityHacker I coded this in JavaScript. I used jQuery, jQuery UI, jQuery Simulate, ACE Editor, and the HTML 5 Canvas element. I'll probably end up using a templating plugin soon as well (probably the micro templating plugin I wrote).

@CoderDBF Yep! This is something that I've been thinking about for a while.
