Here's a brief description of what I think of most of the newly released female singers in the Filipino industry...
Frenchie Dy
The Big Time Belter. She seems to have coped through all the tough times quite well. She is starring a Musical called Avenue Q, which I heard was a big hit. Though she doesnt perform very much in ASAP any longer, I hope she reaches her full potential and finally gets an album.
Jonalyn Viray
The Soul Princess. Her vocal range is great as always, but I think that she seems to stretch a lot when she goes to her high notes. She executes them very well and is quite versatile. I still think that she lacks the emotion that she should be presenting, but of course its nothing that she cant improve upon. More power to her.
Mau Marcelo
1st Philippine Idol winner. Her high notes are powerful in a sense of resonance, but she can't go as high as other singers. She has a unique 'pang' to her voice will always be loved. Good luck on her album.
Rachelle Ann Go
The Ultimate Champion. Control has gotten was better from b4. Great improvement, but there is still room for more. Her whistle register compared to Viray doesnt have the control, and clarity that it shud possess. Needs to work on that aspect more than anything else.
Sarah Geronimo
The Pop Princess. I've noticed that Sarah is compared to many singers in the music industry. Its funny really, since so many people tell her that she isnt a good singer. Then y do so many people compare so many singers to her?...Oh well...I do agree with some of what the critcizers say about her tho. She needs to work more on her high notes, so that she increases her vocal range. But with everything else, emotion, acting, dancing, presence, etc, are all good.
Sheryn Regis
The Power Belter/The Crystal Voice Of Asia. Very successful. Who would have guessed?...but honestly she deserves everything has has been given to her. Her vocal prowess is amazing, she is versatile and she is just so impressive on the stage. More power to come as well.
Yeng Constantino
The Rock Princess. Her success can almost be matched with Sarah's, since she has been getting many platinum albums. Her stage presence is the best, becuz she just presents so much entertainment to any type of audience. Being a singer is one thing, but being a composer as well, is just truly amazing.
Kyla
The R&B Princess. Y is she always being compared to Nina?...They are two very different people, with very different singing abilities. Kyla presents a sense of versatility in her singing, tho she needs to work on some things. Tho she can reach those high notes, her voice strains a lot, which isnt that pleasing to hear. More practice will present improvement.
