@plntntvzn I dont think the 1975 colts could run on the 2008 Steelers. It is difficult to compare football teams from different era's because of the rules changes. Today's game encourages passing.

It is the games before 1978 that are difficult to come across. VCR's were rare before then.

Cincinnati was in the midst of an 11-3 season so there defense was still formidable. They came very close to beating Oakland in the playoffs.

Notice the respect the steelers Mike Wagner shows the opposition, "Dallas were that good". A lot of people making comments on this site could learn a lot from that.

It seemed like in crucial games and situations near the end of the season such as the Rams game, this defense failed.

@pgraybengal No offense but Keith Gary's name never should be mentioned with 70's steelers or raiders. He was a very good football player

I would not call the Steelers offensive line of the 70's incredible. They only had one Hall of Famer (Mike Webster) and did not even have any border line Hall of Famers in the offensive line. Their offensive line was solid but not spectacular.

@kcthatsawinner I dont agree with your statement that Steeler nation thought Bum was a bad guy. There was no bitterness towards him from Steelers fans. His hat got stolen but that was an isolated incident.

@plntntvzn There was no way he could beat out Donnie Shell at strong safety. His best year was his rookie year. Johnson was the player who covered Mike Renfro on the controversial non-catch call in the 1979 AFC Championship game against the Oilers.
