Jeff Buckley was born in California's Orange County in 1966 and died in a tragic drowning accident in Memphis on May 29, 1997. He had emerged in New York City's avant-garde club scene in the 1990's as one of the most remarkable musical artists of his generation, acclaimed by audiences, critics, and fellow musicians alike. His only full-length album, Grace, Grace was named as one of Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time," while Buckley's name was listed prominently in Mojo's list of "The Greatest Vocalists of All Time." The hugely influential album set the template for the musically daring, overtly emotional approaches of such celebrated groups as Radiohead and Coldplay. It's safe to say that no artist of recent years has left a deeper or more lasting impression on his fellow musicians. Buckley's all-too-brief recording career also left an indelible impression on the fans whose hearts he touched throughout the world.
