FYI, I was 19 yrs. old in '66. I did do research, both online, and at the local library. You state that a 138 car could have a 327 or 396. 138 designates SS, the only way to get the SS was with a 396, unless it was built in Canada. They built SS's with a 327, and they were Chevelle's, not Beaumonts. The regular Malibu's had the 136 code. Your car is nice and I will be more than happy to email you some pics of my '66 if you send me your address and then you can judge whether "it's half as decent as yours". Mine is just a Malibu 2dr. H/T, but does quite well at car shows. The color blue of your car is pronounced the same as the river in Germany.

@elesados ...here we go. one of those "you didnt do research...blah blah blah" let me guess elesados, you did YOUR research online? perhaps you should try a more educated approach and head to the library, or better yet, if you are from the 60s generation of people, which i doubt you are and I myself am not too, then I recommend consulting with the men of THAT generation as to what a 66' truly is! if you have a 66' that's half as decent as mine then by all means I am in error. I am unclear as to how I am in error ...as I have BOOKS that depict and decode information from Cowl Tags.
