Neither the song nor the series is about WoW. It's about a game that doesn't actually exist. Mmos generally follow the same pattern, though it seems to be true that after WoW they became more quest based and slightly less grindy.

I know that it's entirely not the direction you're going with this song, but all I could hear when you started singing was what the song would have sounded like if it have been done by The Smiths, which I think would have fit them well. Different arrangement, of course, but still. Nice stuff.

@durks1969 Bowie's cover of "Let's Spend the Night Together" springs to mind. He out-rocked the Stones. Also, I suggest listening to some of the stuff by Nouvelle Vague for some examples of covers that are better than the original. They don't all work, but when they do, they really shine.
