Kentucky State Police (KSP) is tapping into Cyberspace through YouTube© to promote safe driving during the holiday season. This sixty-second YouTube© video will be pushed out through KSP's other social media formats such as Facebook©, Twitter©, and the agency website.
Lt. David Jude, Commander for the Public Affairs Branch, says the agency is using alternative methods to reach the driving public in an effort to reduce crashes on Kentucky roadways.
"Social Media has become a crucial part of how we interact with each other and is a good format to communicate with people of all ages," says Jude.
"This is another platform that we can use to get the safe driving message out to the motoring public. The more people we can reach with this message, the greater the chance for a reduction in highway deaths," adds Jude.
The KSP launched their YouTube channel in July of this year with a recruiting video and have had over 13,000 people upload their videos since that time.
The 'KSP TV' YouTube channel is located at http://www.youtub... where viewers can watch the new holiday traffic safety video online.
Jude encourages the public to visit KSP social media sites and to share their thoughts and opinions about what the agency posts.
"One of the reasons we have had success with social media, is that we allow for an open forum. If someone disagrees with us or shares a critique of the agency, that is their opinion -- and we respect that."
KSP currently has 35,956 followers on Facebook, 2,334 followers on Twitter, 3,200 views on Flickr and the Commissioners Blog has had 9,213 views.

http://www.scb.com - More than 90,000 cans of food build into 18 colossal structures. On June 1, the structures will be "decanstructed" and their contents go to feed the hungry in Cook County. Chicago architects, engineers, and construction companies show off their design and engineering genius to aid in the cause to fight hunger. All cans used in the structures benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
