@dpkellam according to Shelby Foote.... not so much. Had they defeated the Union army @ Gettysburg, the war would have dragged and easily eclipsed 1 million deaths. As much valor as the Confederate Army showed in the 4+ yrs of battle, they never really stood a chance.
