@desperauto , you're comparing rock drummers to the best fusion drummer of all time. No contest. Cobham is the better of the two.

Rush - Subdivision (Drum Cam) Live
Drum cam, Neal peart is a fucking GOD. rush rules.
Interesting Neil Peart quote: "It doesn't matter if you've heard Buddy Rich, he's influenced your playing," explains Peart. "The first drummer I was amazed by was Billy Cobham, who was taught by TONY WILLIAMS, who was taught by ELVIN JONES before him. You don't have to know that torch of genius ...

@chevpowr Huh? Who would ever say that Cobham sucks? I have never heard that. Under-appreciated, yes. I think he's the best I have ever seen.

@gpsomers Hey thanks! Threeother questions if you wouldn't mind. Are the engines in full power? Is Ted pulling or pushing? Looks like pushing. How big is whatever it is pulling/pushing? Must be huge!

spectacular EMD 710 sound
The Jasper "essential" video for someone without patience and with better sound. A CN SD70M-2 and a SD75i are leaving Jasper toward Yellowhead Pass.
You like that? Do a Youstube search for "Tractor Tug pulling hard ." Two EMDs in full power - 6700 hp. Great sound!

Master Drummer Billy Cobham
Very nice Latin feel and touch; great execution. Billy is getting a bit older, but he's only getting better.
Typical Billy: Full speed ahead, maximum power, incredible control, dynamics, etc.
He is not an underrated drummer. Anyone who knows anything about music knows how good he is. He is under-appreciated and under-recognized.

Seems underpowered to me. Here in Denver we have long coal trains coming through. With 112 cars and four locomotives that around 29,000,000 pounds, or about 1 Hp to move 1640 pounds.
If this train is 9K, plus the power, that is over 2140 being moved by each horsepower unit.
I'm not a railroad...

Great video. If I'm not mistaken, the prime movers don't care if they're pulling a 3000 ton train down the track at 70 MPH in full power or if they're on their knees, slugging it out at 2 MPH shoving a 10,000 ton train up a 2% grade in run 8.
It's all the same to them.
