@shadowr434 i think you don't know very well the history of modern planes, if AIRBUS is good at creating things that someone else already created then McDD and BOEING do the same thing.
The C17 is an improvement of the McDD YC15 wich is an improvement of the French BREGUET 188 STOL made in 60s
