About this user

Marek Skwarczynski was born in 1973 trumpeter, composer and leader. He began to play the trumpet at the age of twelve and continued his education at Academy of Music in Krakow ( Masters degree in classical music performance ) and Katowice at Jazz Department in Poland. In 1996 he received scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where he studied for 1 year and received an Albert A. Natale Award in recognition of outstanding musical achievement in Professional Performance. He also participated at Inagural season of Henry Mancini Institute in Long Beach, CA . He recorded two classical albums Baroque Music for Trumpet & Organ in Lezajsk Basilica and St.Mary..s Basilica in Krakow where he also performed for the Queen of England during her official visit in Poland. Marek moved to Brooklyn in 1997. He performed in NYC clubs as Europa, Smalls, Rhythm Club, Smoke, Cleopatras Needle, Blue Note and Village Vanguard where he sat in numerous times with legendary Lou Donaldson. He also performed at Williamsburg Jazz Festival and Long Island Slavic Music and Dance Festival. Marek performed with trumpeter Wynton Marsalis who arrived at his Marek..s gig at the Cleopatra..s Needle and they played Marek..s compositions together. Marek also cooperated with the Rapper and an Actor of the Year Will Smith during his recording session in NYC. Marek also performed on the benefit honoring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere. In April 2005 Marek was featured artist on the Neighborhood Beat Show aired by Brooklyn Community Access Television. He also performs with basist/composer Bill Lee big band and quintet. He has also played on a movie score "Dark Country" of pianist/composer Eric Lewis. Marek is also active trumpeter on the New York..s Latin/Salsa scene and he performs regularly with Majica Latina as well as Hector Montalvo band.
