About this user
Jasmine "JazieBee" Taylor was born on January 25, 1987 to a household deeply rooted in music. Her father (Joseph Taylor) was a musician with a Jazz background, composer, and minister of music. Her mother (Jennifer Taylor) was a choir director, nurse, and a gifted writer.Jasmine was born in Frankfurt, Germany and later spent a short time in Anniston, AL before moving to Hoover, AL at the age of seven. She had always enjoyed singing along with the choir at church. At the age of four she began singing in the soprano section with her sister (Pamela Taylor), her brother (Joey Taylor) at the drums, her father on the organ, and her mother as the choir director. In a short time she developed a four octave range, amazingly able to hold down the entire soprano section with her sister. Listeners couldn't believe the massive voices the two young girls possessed. She began participating in various talent shows in Elementary school and began dreaming of being a music artist one day.
In middle school and high school, she began participation in sports, excelling in Track and Field that landed her a scholarship. At 16 she made the front page of the Birmingham Newspaper with high scores for the National Women's Bobsled team auditions, which landed her a short documentary on Fox 6 news. While in college she had a change of heart and decided to focus on her first and true passion of becoming a Music Artist.
Through the years her voice deepened a bit but never lost its power. "You give me a song, any song...I can sing it," Jasmine enthused. In 2007 she moved to Mobile, AL to begin singing backup for Charles "Bo" Grant's, formerly of "The Platters," Cover Band. Charles was impressed with the "Powerhouse" vocalist and her ability to be a "Chameleon" with her voice. He compared her power to Chaka Kahn with the luxuriant smoothness of Sarah Vaughn. During this time she developed songwriting, scatting, voice control, and stage presence. Soon, she had her own solo sets and the confidence to begin a solo career under the name, given by the band, Jazie Bee.
Currently Jazie Bee is developing a band with a Blues, Rock, and Jazz sound. Her music influences include: Quincy Jones, Rufus and Chaka Kahn, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Earth Wind and Fire, Erykah Badu, Led Zepplin, Janis Joplan, Amy Winehouse, Portishead, Anita Baker, Sade, Aaliyah,Dolly Parton, Pink Floyd, Curtis Mayfield, Tina Turner, and Stevie Wonder. "It's in my blood, I live for and by the music," says Jazie Bee. "Its supernatural and a part of me, I want to reach the masses with a message. That gives you longevity."
