It is plain to hear why Bill made remarks about the physical piano he had to play on this gig. Really ratty sound from that instrument. Even a Bill Evans couldn't improve on a trashy instrument. Did the gig owner expect Bill to tune the thing himself? Nowhere on its range is it true.

Turn on the radio to AM or FM and you hear the same sounds repeatedly, even over a matter of years. Here is proof that original music exists. Those listening to Weather Report tunes like this are in a minority. Celebrate the minority, as, for many, it cannot be done.

Suave might describe the quartet's approach to this tune. While that, it nevertheless swings dramatically and lyrically. There is a bass growl at 2:21. Listen also to 3:04 where Desmond gives a clue to the interesting manner in which he will conclude his solo. Sorrowfully, the actual ending is sk...
