About this user

Since I was a child I have loved the outdoors. I spent many hours during summer months tromping through the swamps in my small home town. That is where I learned to catch snakes, lizards, frogs and various rodents. My fascination with survival started when my dad brought home a military survival book from work. I spent days learning how to build traps, and then put them to use. I caught a handful of animals, but soon quit because I was harming wild animals for no reason. It felt good to have a catch but I didn't want to senselessly harm anymore animals. I grew up with hopes and dreams of becoming a marine biologist, then a herpetologist, then finally by the end of high school I realized I wanted to be a fire fighter. My plans changed, taking me from a janitor, to a pest control tech, to a telecommunications installer. Then out of the blue, my boss tells me he will have to let me go. So I decided to pursue the career I had once dreamed of having, Fire fighter. I first went to EMT school, where my instructor told me about wilderness medicine. I of course could not pass this up. So after EMT I went directly to Nantahala Outdoors Center and became a wilderness EMT. I then went on to a grueling three months of fire school, where I graduated a FL. State certified fire fighter. I went back with my old job of Telecommunications Installer, while I hunt for a Fire Fighting/EMT job. I have recently gotten back into the survival world. I love it, learning new trick tips, and tools. I hope that someday some of my ideas will transfer from my head, to a sheet of paper, to a company, and finally end up in your kit. But it will be a slow start.
