Very imaginative. But since James Dean was travelling west into the setting sun and the other vehicle travelling east, the other vehicle did not have the sun in his eyes. There was no obstruction to seeing James Deans car. Since the other car was making a left, did he put his left turn signal on?

Did Turnupseed even put his left turn signal on before turning left.

@powersliding I agree, it was still light out and the sun was not in his eyes. Even with the low silver porsche, if he had eyes he still should have seen an oncoming vehicle before turning into the lane. His saying that he simply did not see the porsche before turning makes no sense.

If the other driver said he never saw James Deans car before making a left turn, that is evidence that he was more negligent, not less. He had a duty to make proper observations, especially if turning left across another lane. James Deans negligence was driving too fast and he should have slowed ...

If the other driver paused before turning, there was no reason he should not have seen James Deans vehicle travelling straight. The other vehicle started to turn left making the first negligent move. James Dean saw the other vehicle turning and drove too agressively trying to pass around the turn...

The great music really added to the drama in East of Eden and Rebel Without a Cause.
