JACOMO in 7 questions

1.What is the main purpose of publishing all these videos for free on Youtube?

JACOMO:
Well, God gives everyone a talent, and I think this is mine, and I feel the need of sharing it with the people. I don´t earn any money for this animations you can see on YouTube.
Obviously, if you contact me for a specific job, I will charge for my work. I need to pay rent and have a life. I am looking forward to getting a sponsor, maybe a company that support my work, advertising on my videos, so I can start my own animation studio to produce all the fiction stories I have written during the last 15 years.

2.How long does it take you to make an animated video?

JACOMO:
I cannot specify an exact duration for the process of making a video, because it may take me weeks, as well as months depending on the topic. The process starts months before the publication, I watch videos, interviews and read a lot about the character so I can feel his essence and be able to transmit it to the people who watch.

3.What can you tell us about the technique you use to create your videos?

JACOMO:
Not much really, I don´t use any technique, I just let my spirit go. I use ADOBE FLASH for animation, and additional software for effects and final arts. I create the script in a text-process software, and I record and mix the audio in a conventional sound record software. Any of these popular programs are good. A software won´t make the difference in your life.

4.Are you a real fan of the music divas?

JACOMO:
I like Celine Dion most of all, but also Whitney Houston, Madonna and Shakira among other artists. I am not an obsessive fan; I admire their music, performances and feel much respect for what they do. People think I am a big fan of all the divas that appear on MARIKO SAN Show, but that is not absolutely necessary. I must feel some kind of connection with the singer, off course, otherwise it wouldn´t be possible to work for two or three months in a video. If an artist doesn´t make me feel something, it is not an easy thing.

5.About Mariko san, is it an original idea of yours?

JACOMO:
Well, Creation is something relative. I created the character, MARIKO SAN without expecting he would become the great TV host he has become with the years. But the show is a regular talk show such as Larry king´s, David Letterman´s, Oprah or Rosie ODonnells shows. I like the Asian cultures very much, especially Japanese and Chinese. I had the chance to share with people from those countries while visiting Paris, some years ago, and they got surprised of how much I admire them even I have never been in their countries. The concept of Mariko San is a mix of many facts. The name MARIKO SAN was taken from the Classic novel SHOGUN, and was a woman´s name, but in Spanish, it happens to be easy to remember.

6.Are you the creator of HUEVOCARTOONS?

JACOMO:
NO! I definitely am not. I just used these popular little eggs to illustrate one of my songs without commercial intentions; I just published this video for people to have fun. That´s all. Actually, I am considering making a new video for the song 10 cervezas.

7.Your scripts are really well written and funny, but I can see you are not very good in oral interviews. Why is that?

JACOMO:
Well, I know I am not the best entertainer, But those are skills that can be acquired by practicing. By now, I just focus myself on learning about animation and arts techniques. Some people think I get nervous in front of the cameras, and that is not true, I am exactly like that in my real life, my voice doesn´t sound as strong as it should be when you see me in silence. I know all that, but it doesn´t worry me at all. I have been reading biographies of people who I admire, and most of them had the same problem before their TIME arrived. But the day they needed to speak it just came as an illumination. So, I am just giving it time.
