I'm not a videographer...so first off I apologize for that. I do love music however but consider myself more of a "parrot" than a musician. When a particular tune strikes me I feel I must try to recreate it myself. It somehow makes me feel "closer" to the tune. Maybe it's a character flaw...maybe it's therapy. I guess it's my golf, football, bar hopping (insert favorite male activity). I do know that it brings satisfaction in the end and that's probably the biggest reason I do it.
Therefore all of the "videos" I post are with rare exception cover tunes of songs I particularly like. Where otherwise noted I do all music and vocal performances. It can be a pain doing absolutely everything from playing, singing, recording, mixing and production. The end product is what keeps me going.
I hope you all enjoy listening as much as I enjoy doing this.

Born 1962. Became interested in music the moment I realized I existed. At age 4 I just had to tap out rhythms on the ottoman (we called it a hassock) with plastic straws no less. My mom used to play alot of 50's stuff and I'd play along when she'd spin the vinyl.
Then one Christmas I got a (cheesy) drum set from Sears I think. I remember it saying "Out of this World" on the bass drum head. Looking back it was a piece of crap but I certainly appreciated what I received back then. All in all it wasn't that bad and it helped me develop my sense of rhythm. I was about 7-9 at the time.
At age 12 I wanted to take karate lessons. The TV show Kung Fu was real big back then and everyone wanted some form of martial arts training. Just a few days before classes began that summer I got the worst case of sunburn I have ever had in my life. It wasn't "ohhh mom it smarts"...I had blisters on my shoulders and back. I certainly could not do karate moves!
So....after a karate cool down period...I took guitar lessons. I found I liked it!
Make no mistake, there is a certain point when a student in guitar gets so frustrated he wants to quit (this was certainly the case with me)...but then he reaches that plateau, and the light comes on...and then it all makes sense. At least until Eddie Van Halen comes along.
I gravitated towards the acoustic realm. I guess I'm a sentimental sucker at heart...it's just what I like. Never having a real 'big brother/sister" model I just listened to AM radio along with my mom. So my 70's influences were pretty much all pop and a smattering of other influences. I loved the Gordon Lightfoot, John Denver, James Taylor, Carol King, Jackson 5 and all the other stuff that was on that AM radio with the deluxe 3" speaker!
It wasn't until I got to high school and met kids from the surrounding counties (who had older siblings) that I was exposed to Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath etc. and STEREO!
What an amazing difference...whodathunkit!
Got into a band around 16-17 years old doing alot of "southern rock" which was popular at the time. For lack of a better (or willing) singer I started doing lead vocals. I found it rather exhilarating...especially when folks clapped!
This is when I got into my "progressive" era. It started off with doing alot of "Rush" back in the late 70's early 80's. I simply loved the chorus effect Alex Lifeson was using at the time and embraced it as my own. I had an ElectoHarmonix "Clone Theory Chorus"...and while it was the noisiest thing on earth...it provided the most beautiful chorus I have heard unto this day. That chorus effect helped me be able to reproduce much of what I heard on albums at the time and significantly shaped my approach to playing today.
Then came Yes. I had many friends who liked Yes back in high school but I never appreciated them until I went to college. I still like to play many Yessongs.
Now I'm back to my roots. I guess now that I DO have my own little project studio in my basement I can record at my leisure. I do what I want when I want and if it takes a month or two so what. "I have no steenking bandmates" to deal with.
I do have some personal friends who are truly talented individuals though. One has an account on YouTube and has yet to post a video here. He is a remarkable singer/songwriter...eta1025. Harass him and make him post.
