About "I Won't Let You Down" Matt Gfeller 1993-2008
Matt Gfeller (#57) lost his life at age 15 after playing his first high school varsity football game on Friday, August 22, 2008 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Ten minutes remained in the game between Reynolds High and Greensboro Page, when Matt suffered a head injury during the block of a running play. Despite care on the field and emergency brain surgery, Matt's condition was irreversible. After being taken off life support, he breathed on his own until he passed away Sunday morning August 24, 2008.
Matt died fulfilling one of his dreams: to start on the Reynolds Demons varsity football team.
Matt's life was so much more than his death. These videos reveal the zest Matt had for living.
"I won't let you down," Matt often said, and this channel is a small attempt to not let Matt down by bringing his story so many will be inspired to live life to the fullest.
