Sonata Arctica - Shy
Text to sonata arctica - shy
@blackpanther10109 I did not look it up, I was linked from a friends' facebook page - well, former friend.
I "gotta bash" because it is probably the worst combination of a banal and badly structured chord progression, terrible keyboard sound, pathetic teenage lyrics and unimaginably bad phrasing ...

@2112mike I don't think many jazz musicians lower the 6th and 7th when practicing them. Especially because in jazz, a lot of it is using the melodic minor scale is used for composition, harmonising it etc., so it's pointless to lower the 6th and 7th. I never really understood that, anyway. Why wo...

Don't get all defensive, I've just never heard of it - unlike Berklee, NewSchool, Julliard, NYU or NEC, but that's not the point, it might be very good for all I know. Point is, I'm from the Czech Republic and I've really never heard the term jazz minor. Here (and in all the study material I've u...

@2112mike I'm just from another part of the world (Czech Republic) and i have to say I've never heard the term jazz minor scale - just melodic minor, which is used by jazz and classical musicians alike. And I didn't know that's what you meant by jazz minor in the first comment.

@2112mike but it's not played like classical musicians play it, but the same up and down (1 2 b3 4 5 6 7 8 - like the major scale but with a minor 3rd).

@2112mike Oof, doesn't sound like a great college. The melodic minor is (along with the lydian) a really important scale in modern jazz. And not just the scale in itself, but also its modes - the IV is the lydian dominant (or lydian mixolydian) scale, used for V7#11, the VII is the altered scale ...

What you hear as the bassline is actually the bass guitar, you can't hear the guitar very much, because as taarnum says, the mic didn't pick it up - it was actually louder than everything else on the day.

Brasil Guitar Duo - Egberto Gismonti - Sete Aneis
Brasil Guitar Duo playing Egberto Gismonti's Sete Aneis
Amazing arrangement of a great piece! I probably like this more than the original, as it doesn't have as much pathos as when it is played on the piano, which is sometimes too much for me. Great job!!!
