ITV/ITV Gold was founded in 1985 by Dr B.N. Viswanath to introduce daily programming to South Asian households in the New York area. Since then the company has since expanded to reach viewers across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Since 1986, ITV broadcasts 24/7 and is a one of the only cable-exclusive American-Owned TV channels in the United States targeting the South Asian Diaspora such as Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Nepalis, and Sri Lankans as well as many people of Indian Origin from countries such as Guyana, Trinidad, and Jamaica. ITV boasts a programming schedule which covers the gambit of languages including: Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telegu and English.
