2008 marks the 25th year since the International Language Institute (ILI) opened its doors in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and became the first language center to teach English as a second language in Atlantic Canada.
This video is the first promotional video to ever be created by ILI, and possibly the oldest video presence of a private educational institute in Eastern Canada. ILI decided to re-release the video in 2008 to celebrate its 25 years of history, and the video's 20th anniversary.
For a look at ILI today, you can view the 2008 TV coverage by Eastlink Television at www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KWdZMO04Bw

A brave initiative by Rodney MacDonald, Nova Scotia's Conservative top dog. The Premier rode the wave of popularity provided by the smashing reviews of the recent Hollywood hit 'Juno' and its Halifax-based star: Ellen Page. Ellen appeared on David Letterman on January 3, 2008, and spoke a bit about Nova Scotia, prompting Letterman to announce that he would like to visit some day.
And so, the Nova Scotia Provincial leader decided to send Letterman a more 'official' invitation.
