Ghandi once said: I like your Christ - I do not like your Christians - They are so unlike your Christ.
If I said I was a Christian, the image you would have of me would be the furtherest possible thing from the truth. When a Christian asks me if I am a fellow believer, I will say yes, but if they ask if I am a Christian, I will answer, "I'm a follower of Yeshua". Since few Christians know who Yeshua is, I am usually then asked who Yeshua is. And the conversation continues from there. Why do I bother saying this?
Because I have discovered there is a God that loves us and sent His Son Yeshua, (Jesus) to this earth to teach us how we should live and give us hope for a future lived in harmony with Him through His perfect sacrifice. I have encountered this risen, living Christ, in a most profound way. I have seen the power of this One who holds the universe together with His Word. I have embrace Him on a personal level, a relationship. I reject religion, of all kinds, whether Islam, Hindu, Christianity or any other. Instead, I choose to follow in the footsteps of the ancient Jewish Rabbi, Yeshua.
It would be my hope that I can exemplify the love and the character of this Yeshua, and in doing so show the world that One has come that is genuine, authentic, and truly benevolent. I believe that as the world rejects religion and instead chooses to follow this Yeshua as He asked us to, then the world will see true peace and the enlightenment so many seek. As we come to the cross and empty our own lives, He will then fill us with new life. Then we will be free. Truly free.
