There are MANY summer-related songs and celebration-type tunes. To me, this one is the epitome. A ditty with 'an attitude'. Very defiant, at times bordering on the disrespectful or irreverent, but lots of fun. Summertime, Summertime would have been apt theme music for a movie like 'Ferris Beuller...

I still have my original copy (45 rpm) of this record. It's on the Chess label. Can't make out the writing on yours. Perhaps it's the same. Anyhow, thanks for the post. always enjoy this song. Good beat and tune, very clever lyrics and, of course, the Moonglows are a superb group.
