About this user

Josephine Yang studies piano with Dr. Baruch Meir at the Herberger College at Arizona State University. In 2011 she was crowned Miss Phoenix Chinese, along with the Talent Award and Miss Photogenic. She has been recognized with many music-related honors since she began piano at the age of five, including first place at the 2009 Schimmel/AZ Piano Young Artist Concerto Competition Senior Division with the 2nd and 3rd movements of Rachmaninoff's first concerto, two-time Arizona State Representative at the 2007 and 2009 MTNA Senior Performance Competitions, 2009 Div. III winner of the AZ Musicfest Young Musicians Competition, a finalist in the concerto and sonata divisions of the 14th Annual World Piano Pedagogy Conference Most Wanted Competition, and winner of Arizona State University's 2010/11 annual Concert of Soloists competition as a freshman, which gave her the opportunity to perform the first movement of Rachmaninoff's Concerto No 1 with the ASU Symphony in March 2011. She attended Music Fest Perugia in 2009 and in 2011, where she performed as a soloist in Italy's Basilica di San Pietro with orchestras. Josephine was also an award-winning violinist and co-founded the Phantasie Ensemble in 2004. She graduated as valedictorian of Desert Vista High School in 2010 and is a current sophomore at the Herberger college of Arizona State University.
