About this user

I was born to play the drums.

At a young age, I began drumming on everything around the house. I remember drumming on pots, pans, suitcases and anything else that had a "cool" sound.

Once, I took a small flag, ripped it off its stick, broke it in half and spent days beating on my bedroom lampshade. I would listen to the radio and play along with songs we now classify as "classic rock." By the end of the week, my lampshade was nothing but holes!

When I turned twelve, my father realized that this obsession was here to stay. He made a few phone calls and within days I was attending my first professional drum lesson, studying with the late, great Richard Paul.

I took lessons weekly all the way through high school. I jumped at every opportunity to play in school bands, orchestras and performing groups. I also played in a cover band and participated in state competitions each year.

After graduating from high school in 1985, I continued to play in a variety of groups through 1995. The two most significant groups were the Datura Seeds (with Paul Mahern, Jonee Quest and Lee Cuthbert) and Odd Man (with Tony Valasek and Greg Leistikow). Odd Man released a CD around 1995.

After Odd Man, Tony and I played with two former members of Dog Talk (Pat Casey and Bob Schneider) in a band called Hot Java. I took a long break from the gigging scene after that.

Two marriages and 10 years later I started playing drums regularly again in a band called HeadFirst, a cover band that also wrote a few originals.

I love to play the drums and am always interested in meeting new and talented musicians.
